Arbor Day - Tree Planting 
Alice Rotary Club Rotarians planted four 50 gallon trees Saturday, June 5, 2021 in honor of Arbor Day. Alice Rotary Club donated two to the City of Alice Veterans Park and two to the Alice Independent School District (behind the Bryce Taylor Auditorium). Tag: Ofelia Hunter, Miguel Casarez, Sandra Maldonado-Bowen, Wolf N Robin Garza, Bruce Hoffman, David Silva, volunteers: Ms. Charlie Bazan, Victor Rodriguez, Christian Casarez and Jacob Casarez.

New Alice Rotary Club Transfer - Harlingen, Texas
WELCOME: New Rotarian - Clifford Francis Moriarty. Mr. Moriarty is a transfer from Rotary Club of Harlingen served from November 2011 to June 2021 there he served as a Board of Director, Rotary Foundation, Interact club advisor at Rio Hondo HS and Sargent at Arms.
 
He originally joined Rotary in the Fall (September) 1987, while still active duty US Air Force, was a charter member of the South Dade County Sunrise Club while stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida. Then joined the Enterprise Rotary Club - Ft Rucker Alabama while active duty Air Force from November 1993 to December 1999. Later Joined the Rotary Club of Harlingen, Texas until June 2021, During his Rotary years he has serve on Board, Weekly club bulletin editor, Program Director and Rotary Foundation chair and Club President 1997-1998. Moriarty has retired from the US Air Force and is married to Mary Kay Moriarty (Rotary Ann). Moriarty's current classification is Secondary Education and employed with the Alice Independent School District. He is a Paul Harris Award (PHFs) Total of 8! 

 4-Way Test Winners

We are so proud of these amazing young ladies. Alice Rotary Interact Students; sisters Isela and Celeste Torres participated in our 4-Way Test Speech Contest and won 1st and 2nd place scholarships. 

 

Alice Rotary Club Windmill Project - Alice Green Alliance (AGA)
June 2, 2021 Mr. Daniel Benavides with Alice's Green Alliance was presented with a check for $3,250.00 for the Lake Findley Windmill Project that touches base with one of Rotary's 7 areas of focus. This one impacts our environmental focus because this windmill will be placed at our local lake which will aerate the water and improve the ecosystem. Note to support the environmental focus gives us Rotarian even more ways to bring about positive change in the world and increase our impact for the betterment of one's life! Service Above Self 
Several Rotarians met at the fairgrounds volunteering and helping people get their COVID-19 vaccinations. They helped with meals for volunteers, registration and guiding traffic. 

SERVICE ABOVE SELF IS NOT JUST A THOUGHT TO THE ROTARY FOUNDATION, IT'S A WAY OF LIFE!

Meetings In Review

RYLA Meeting
Alice Rotary Club were honored to have these fine young future leaders speak about their experience at RYLA and future goals at our weekly meeting! Thanks to the Alice High School Interact students who participated in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) during Spring Break. Lots of fun virtual activities. Thanks to Ofelia Hunter Interact/Youth Chair and her committee, and Mr. Newell Atkinson for pizza, Dee Dee Arismendez for goodies and Aramark for all the snacks, and Alice Rotary Club for sponsoring the kids. The 5-day event was a success.

June 2, 2021

Alice Rotary special guest speaker was Mr. Alan Wilson, Chairman with The South Texas Military Task Force who discussed the important role the military plays in South Texas. Not only are they here to protect and serve, but they also have a major impact on our Economy!

April 28, 2021  

Alice Rotary Club's Special Guest Speaker was Dr, Michael Sandroussi, Sponsor Representative of the Southern Institute Careers Center who provided information about the Institute and the many programs available today. As the Federal Government puts more pressure on the Oil and Gas industry to shut down the Institute becomes more important to South Texas. Very informative meeting; thank you Dr. Sandroussi for your presentation.

Alice Rotary Club's Special Guest Speaker was Mr. Victor Garza with The Alice Hub City Chamber of Commerce. His presentation was an informative update on the new Chamber's Development and future goals. We look forward to all this new Chamber will bring to Alice and it’s surrounding communities.
