Immigration is an important issue in the United States especially for residents who live along the US/Mexican border.
On Wednesday, Rotarians in Alice had US Customs and Border Protection Agent David Huebner as the presenter. He talked to the organization about issues such as human and drug smuggling.
He discussed how there are different sectors along the border that Border Patrol Agents patrol using various forms of technology to keep people, regardless of their home country, safe.
Undocumented immigrants face harsh conditions attempting to cross the border. Many undocumented immigrants lose the lives in the process.
He explained how smugglers don’t value life and how smugglers forget that these people are human beings; they only see dollar signs.
Huebner reminded attendees to call 9-1-1 if they see any thing suspicious because its important to save lives.
